This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 21, 2009 at 3:45 pmNirvanix announced the appointment of Joseph Lyons as its new Vice President of Sales. Lyons has nearly two decades of global enterprise service and sales experience at leading storage and technology companies, including successfully implementing comprehensive storage and networking solutions at Fortune 100 and 500 companies. He reports directly to Nirvanix President and CEO Jim Zierick.
Lyons joins Nirvanix after serving as the Director of Services Sales for the Americas at Brocade Communications where he managed the Brocade S3 services team, a wholly owned subsidiary of Brocade, from negative margin to profitability within three quarters. Prior to joining Brocade, Lyons was a Senior Account Executive and Global Account Manager at Glasshouse Technologies Inc. where he was responsible for sales of a variety of services including storage, virtualization and enterprise backup to the media and finance sectors. He also built new markets and developed new sales teams for Exario Networks, EB Networks/RPM Consulting, Inrange Global Consulting and CNT Professional Services.
“As Nirvanix looks to extend its leadership position atop the Cloud Storage industry, we will continue searching out opportunities where our Storage Delivery Network can best meet the need of businesses for reliable long-term data preservation,” said Zierick. “Joe’s extensive knowledge of the industry coupled with a solid history of sales successes puts us in a position to fulfill our mandate to provide enterprise-class storage to companies in a way that allows them to focus on managing their business rather than their storage infrastructure. I am pleased that Joe is joining our executive team and look forward to seeing the results of his efforts as the leader of our sales team.”
“I am excited to join Nirvanix and to be able to showcase the company’s ability to safely enable long-term retention of enterprise data in a secure, reliable and more cost-effective manner than traditional in-house alternatives such as NAS or tape,” said Lyons. “I believe that Cloud Storage is an increasingly attractive alternative to businesses building and maintaining their own long-term data retention solutions and look forward to showing enterprise customers how they can get the upper hand on the exponential growth and reuse of their data.”
