Mike Cannon Will Retire From Dell
He was the brilliant CEO of Maxtor.
By Jean Jacques Maleval | January 2, 2009 at 2:52 pmDell announced that Mike Cannon, President, Global Operations, will retire from Dell effective Jan. 31, where he transforms the company’s supply chain. He will be succeeded by Jeff Clarke who, in addition to his responsibilities as head of Dell’s Business Client Product Group, will become vice chairman, Global Operations. Cannon will continue to serve as a consultant to Dell.
Cannon was previously President, CEO and a director of Solectron Corporation. Prior to that, he was President, CEO and a director of Maxtor Corporation (now part of Seagate Technology). He also worked at IBM’s Storage Systems Division, and began his career at The Boeing Company in engineering and management positions within the Manufacturing Research and Development organization.
He studied mechanical engineering at Michigan State University and completed Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. Cannon serves on the board of Adobe Systems and of the U.S.-China Business Council, a non-profit organization of approximately 250 American companies that conduct business with China.
