According to source
By Jean Jacques Maleval | December 22, 2008 at 3:58 pmAccording to a Western Digital’s inside source that we cannot cited, the company could announce its new 2TB 3.5-inch HDD, a world record capacity, on January 5, 2009. And when WD launches a new unit, it generally means that it is already in production.
Probably named CaviarGreen WD20EADS, this unit will have four platters rotating at 7,200rpm with SATA-II, and will surpass the Seagate 1.5TB Barracuda 7200.11 unit already available since last August. Some OEMs have already looked at the WD device under NDA. Even distributor Czech Computer already offers it at 5,943,-Kc excluding VAT (US$316).
You can bet that HGST, Samsung, Seagate will follow WD next year with the same capacity.
