PeakData and HDS Join Forces

To offer onsite disk data eradication and disk physical destruction and recycling

PeakData Services, Inc. has partnered with Hitachi Data Systems to offer enterprise customers data security services including onsite disk data eradication and disk physical destruction and recycling. The services enable both the physical destruction of failed or retired hard disk drives and ensure complete verifiable eradication of data, without interruption to customers’ business-critical operations. These services are available from Hitachi Data Systems immediately.

The Onsite Disk Data Eradication Service provides complete auditable and verifiable eradication of data from hard disk drives to prevent confidential information from falling into the wrong hands. The service employs software-based technology that securely renders data inaccessible to comply with over sixteen international published standards and generates the detailed reporting required to satisfy today’s tough state and local government and industry regulatory compliance requirements, customer and employee privacy legislation and security mandates. As a result, the service helps insulate customers from exposure to costly legal liabilities and loss of corporate assets.

The Disk Physical Destruction and Recycling Service provides complete destruction of hard disk drives. The service employs disk destruction methodologies, techniques and specialized equipment to shred hard disk drives into miniscule blocks that are approximately 1/125 of an inch or less in size on current magnetic disk technology. The remains are then recycled and disposed of in the presence of a third party witness and in an environmentally friendly manner that complies with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency WasteWise Program, EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive and all state, local and federal regulations. As part of the service offering, Hitachi Data Systems Global Solution Services (GSS) will provide customers with detailed reporting, which satisfies today’s tough state and local government and industry regulatory compliance requirements, customer and employee privacy legislation and security mandates.

"Our business delivers a variety of services that address the growing need for enterprise-class data security at every stage of the information lifecycle, with a particular emphasis on expired or obsolete data," said Glenn Jacobsen, vice president and general manager of PeakData Services. "We are excited to be partnering with Hitachi Data Systems to provide these services to their customers"

"The demand for information security has never been higher," said Mike Vaughn, Global Practice Manager, Hitachi Data Systems Global Solution Services. "PeakData has developed tailored expertise in the category of disk data security which combined with Hitachi Data Systems’ world-class services provides great value to our customers by minimizing exposure to legal liabilities or loss of corporate data assets," he added.
