Solid Access Unveils DRAM SSDs
Up to 1TB in a 4U tower
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 21, 2008 at 3:11 pmAt SC08, Solid Access Technologies announced the availability of its new generation of DRAM Solid State Disk products, the USSD Series 300.
Featuring significant enhancements in capacity density and further improvements in power and cooling components, the Solid Access USSD 300 is the clear choice for organizations requiring the highest capacity, ‘no compromises’ IOPS and data bandwidth performance in the smallest possible footprint.
The USSD 300 Series DRAM SSD models introduced are as follows:
- Model 310, a 256 GB, 1U rack mount offering for high IOPS needs
- Model 310T, a 1 TB, 4U tower, targeted at high performance databases
- Model 315, a combined server and 128 GB DRAM SSD, 1U device, for custom projects
- Model 320, a 256 GB, 2U product, where data bandwidth and featuressuch as port mapping are key to multi-server USSD resource leveraging.
Solid Access has already benchmarked 100K IOPS using a single Fibre Channel link (up to 6 links are available in the 2U USSD 320) and now achieves 4 GB/second sustained aggregated data bandwidth.
"Five years ago when we introduced the first open architecture, ultra-fast DRAM SSD, our goal was to offer the best performance, most flexible interfacing, highest density and best price of any offering in the segment. The new USSD 300 Series is the capstone to our efforts in a year in which we have enjoyed 500 percent growth. The recent 28 unit USSD sale to Samsung Securities is further proof that customers of all sizes are taking notice," stated Tomas Havrda, Solid Access Managing Director.
The USSD’s use of a 100 percent standard components-based architecture provides Solid Access with unique differentiators in both its ability to provide significant enhancements like the 256 GB, 1U DRAM SSD device, as well as a further widening of the existing price advantage against category competitors.
"While much attention has been paid to flash-based devices, SSD technology is all about increasing IOPS and elimination of latency. DRAM based solutions are still the leaders in these categories, and products like Solid Access’ USSD 300 Series of solutions provide a clear path to meeting those goals," stated analyst George Crump, founder and president of Storage Switzerland.
Solid Access also announced support for 8 Gb/sec fibre channel and 6 Gb/sec serial-attached SCSI interfaces, both available in Q1, 2009.
