Port of Lisbon Uses Diskeeper
For defragmentation
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 21, 2008 at 3:07 pmDiskeeper Corporation Europe announced the release of a new case study outlining the benefits that Port of Lisbon experienced using Diskeeper.
Port of Lisbon is one of the foremost Iberian ports. It has been active for 101 years and currently employs 351 people. It is the national leader in the movement of vessels, occupying 1st place in the national ranking for handling both containerised cargo and solid bulk agricultural foodstuffs.
Degradation of system performance resulting in increased boot time and recurring system crashes were the reasons that brought Port of Lisbon’s system administrator, Filipe Pedro, to deploy Diskeeper on the network of the European port authority.
“When users started to complain, we used to defragment their machines with the windows defrag tool. We went from machine to machine and we lost a lot of time in the process”, Filipe recalls.
Diskeeper represented the right solution to keep systems operating at top performance. “From an IT administrator perspective, Diskeeper is extremely time-saving. We used to spend hours on keeping the system optimised. With Diskeeper, we freed approximately half the time, which we can now use on other maintenance processes”, stated Filipe. “End users are completely satisfied because their computers are more stable. Response speeds are faster. We don’t receive complaints about the slowness of the PCs anymore.”
Automatic defragmentation increased Port of Lisbon systems’ performance and impacted positively the company’s ROI not only with increased productivity but also with an extended life span of the hardware.
Filipe concluded: “I am very happy with my decision. Diskeeper is a great product and I would recommend it to all businesses.”
