iVDR’ s ISO Proposal
Approval aimed on the end of 2009
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 19, 2008 at 3:41 pmiVDR Hard Disk Drive Consortium has started International Standardization activities of iVDR specifications on July 29, 2008. NP (document number: N 1520) of iVDR hardware specification was proposed from NB of Japan through ISO/IEC JTC1/SC23.
On October 30, 2008, the proposal was formally approved (document number: N 1555) by JTC1/SC23 international member’s voting. The reserved standard number of ISO/IEC 29171 was also assigned.
iVDR is aiming at the approval on the end of 2009 as International Standard. Now, standardization discussions will move to the next stage (discussion by working group and sub committee), that means the International Standardization activities will shift from Japan domestic to the international stage.
