Susan Whitney Director of the Board at LSI

LSI Corporation announced that Susan M. Whitney has been elected to its Board of Directors, effective November 12, 2008. Ms. Whitney is a former IBM Corporation executive who most recently served as General Manager, IBM System x, retiring from the company in 2007.

"Susan is a widely known and well respected business leader with extensive global experience garnered during her 35-year career with IBM," said Abhi Talwalkar, LSI president and chief executive officer. "Her insight and guidance will be invaluable to us as we continue to focus on increasing our worldwide opportunities in the storage and networking areas."

From 2001 to 2007, Ms. Whitney directed and managed IBM’s global x86-based server division, holding profit and loss responsibility and overseeing the product development, sales, marketing and manufacturing functions. She has also held executive positions with the IBM Server Group, IBM Asia Pacific and IBM Midwest organizations during her tenure with IBM, which began in 1972.

Ms. Whitney replaces board member Timothy Y. Chen, who has resigned effective November 12, 2008. Upon joining the board, she also became a member of the Compensation and the Nominating and Corporate Governance committees.
