Compellent Achieves Citrix Ready Validation
For end-to-end virtualization infrastructure
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 4, 2008 at 3:19 pmCompellent Technologies, Inc. announced its Storage Center storage area network (SAN) has met Citrix Ready program requirements for supporting the Citrix Delivery Center infrastructure for application delivery. When combined with Compellent’s storage virtualization, Citrix users can create a complete virtual solution from the desktop all the way to back-end storage.
The Citrix end-to-end virtual infrastructure encompasses Citrix XenServer, Citrix XenApp and Citrix XenDesktop virtualization platforms. At the core of the collaboration, Compellent’s advanced storage virtualization consolidates storage management and performance allowing XenServer to direct resources to the most demanding applications. Time-saving storage management features like automated tiered storage, thin provisioning, continuous snapshots, boot from SAN and thin replication reduce disk costs, cut energy expenditures and enable high availability in the virtual data center.
“Our Compellent storage solutions have been working seamlessly with Citrix solutions for a long time,” said Eric Gunderson, vice president and partner, Syntax, Inc., a Compellent and Citrix provider. “The Citrix Ready status expands the flexibility of virtualized infrastructures and the commitment to interoperability for our end-users.”
“Enterprises who have seen the benefits of server virtualization now seek to spread those efficiencies across the enterprise,” said Lou Shipley, group vice president and general manager, XenServer Products Group, Citrix. “Citrix and Compellent are committed to providing seamless solutions that help users unlock the full potential of virtualization from the data center to the desktop.”
By automating once time-consuming administration tasks including workload distribution, information lifecycle management, server migration, storage provisioning and disaster recovery, users have increased performance and experienced a dramatic savings in power, space and cooling costs.
“The flexibility and ease-of-use end users experience from the Citrix virtual infrastructure now extend to IT staff as they manage enterprise storage,” said Bruce Kornfeld, vice president of marketing and alliances, Compellent. “Compellent’s industry-leading storage virtualization allows administrators to automate storage management for Citrix applications and simplify hardware consolidation.”
As a member of the Citrix Ready program, Compellent’s innovative software applications, including thin provisioning, remote replication and automated tiered storage have demonstrated tested partner compatibility by successfully completing a series of verification tests conducted in the Compellent labs and confirmed by Citrix.
