As for the company’s September product shipment breakdown, flash memory products contributed to 56.86% of sales, while DRAM modules accounted for 34.25%. New product lines including MP3 players, portable hard drives and digital photo frames amounted to 8.89% of the company’s total sales revenue. In addition, Transcend’s combined total product shipment reached a record breaking total of 9.09 million pieces in September. The major contributors to this total were flash-based products, of which 7.26 million units were shipped. Shipments of DRAM-based products totaled 1.56 million pieces, and new product lines reached 275,000 pieces. In terms of average memory capacity of devices sold, Transcend’s average flash card capacity is 2.15GB, while its average flash drive is 3.14GB, and the average capacity of DRAM modules sold is 1.38GB.
Thanks to the DRAM industry’s recent consolidation, tier-one manufacturers have continued to take over sales orders from downstream vendors. As a result, Transcend enjoyed remarkable product shipment growth in September. Flash cards reached 4.22 million pieces, with an increase of 40.38% from last month’s figure, while flash drives reached 3.04 million units with an increase of 49.43%.
In September, Transcend’s shipments and sales revenue in emerging markets continued to grow. In addition, due to the end of the summer vacation in Europe, the demand for memory products bounced back to the more positive position seen in prior months. In the near future, Transcend expects a healthy increase in shipments and sales revenue due to the upcoming Christmas holiday and the industry’s continued consolidation.
