Lansingerland, the Netherlands, StorageConnections.Net announced the availability of the FreeSiOS from their website. The company is giving away the FreeSiOS to anyone and everyone to help increase the awareness of iSCSI as the most cost effective network data transfer protocol.
The FreeSiOS is a bootable system file that needs to be copied onto a DOM (Disk-on-Module), also available for purchase from the online shop. Once copied, the user can simply plug the DOM onto the server motherboard and FreeSiOS will work by turning the server into an Enterprise Class iSCSI Target.
"FreeSiOS is about enabling everyone to experience the simplicity and power of our iSCSI SAN technology," stated Henri Behari, CEO and founder of StorageConnections.Net. "In seconds, anyone can turn an off-the-shelf server into a proven Enterprise Class iSCSI storage appliance."
FreeSiOS features:
- Cluster support built-in (SCSI Reserve/Release)
- Unit mirroring to local or remote locations
- Up to 64 Snapshots per LUN or Virtual Tape
- Supports 4x SATA and various RAID configurations
FreeSiOS is based on the proven SiOS SAN Manager platform that has been in the market for almost half a decade with over 2000 installations worldwide. Small to Medium businesses can greatly benefit by quickly scaling their data transfer speeds and achieving a virtualized storage networking environment with minimal upfront costs.

Is this press release just a way to attract users on the Web site of a company selling iSCSI solutions, and not for free?
