The addition of Pace to Seagate’s growing list of qualified DVR manufacturers means that more people can enjoy even more of their favorite recorded television programs, without having to delete because their DVRs are full. The Seagate Showcase DVR expander is available in 500GB and 1 Terabyte capacities, for up to 200 hours of additional HD movies or 1,000 hours of additional standard definition television. Featuring a Seagate Pipeline HD hard drive inside, developed specifically to meet the HD video demands of today’s DVRs, the Seagate Showcase DVR expander is optimized for the home entertainment center, providing ultra-quiet acoustics and less heat. The Showcase DVR expander comes with eSATA or USB 2.0 interfaces, for easy connectivity and fast video streaming.

With millions of set-top boxes deployed throughout the Americas, Pace units can be obtained through most cable television service providers.

"Today’s cable and satellite customers are faced with more and more entertainment choices to enjoy, but have limited storage capacity with their digital video recorders. The Seagate Showcase DVR expander is designed to help people enjoy more recorded television, especially high-definition programming," said Brian Dexheimer, division president of Seagate’s Consumer Solutions Division. "Coming to a decision on what show to delete next has become an all too common topic for family discussion. With up to a terabyte of recording space, the Showcase DVR expander provides the space needed to save, record and enjoy the programs and movies they love, while deleting less."

"It is a pleasure to work with one of the leaders in storage solutions on a product that provides immediate benefits to a wide base of consumers," said Tim O’Loughin, vice president of Sales and Marketing for Pace. "With the ongoing explosion in HD video, cable providers like the flexibility that Pace boxes provide for their subscribers via our expandable storage feature. Seagate is making it easy for the cable customer and cable operators by qualifying and delivering a product that is reliable and fine tuned specifically for this application."
