Mark Campbell CTO of Unitrends

And Thomas Knight SVP Sales and Marketing

Unitrends is advancing its growth strategy with accelerated expansion plans in several areas across the company, including research and development, sales and support and partner marketing. Strong market demand for its products is continuing, driven by the need for affordable, fully integrated, and easy to manage data protection, disaster recovery and vaulting solutions for small to mid-sized businesses. To strengthen its leadership position, the company is making significant investments to fuel additional research and development, bolster its partner marketing programs and strengthen its sales and support organizations.

As Unitrends embarks upon this next phase of growth, we will be investing and adding resources in a number of areas to advance our industry-leading suite of fully integrated data protection and disaster recovery solutions,” said Duncan McPherson, Unitrends CEO. “In South Carolina alone, we expect to increase our staffing by approximately 60 percent over the next six to twelve months, including significant growth in the areas of software development and inside account specialists.”

The company also announced the appointment of Dr. Mark Campbell as chief technology officer (CTO) and Thomas Knight as senior vice president of sales and marketing. Campbell and Knight bring strong track records of success and proven leadership and will focus on driving Unitrends’ fast-paced growth, furthering its leadership position in business continuity and disaster recovery and delivering world-class solutions to its customers and partners.

As CTO, Campbell will lead Unitrends’ solution roadmap, technology architecture, and strategic product and business planning. Prior to joining Unitrends, Campbell was the CEO of mindAmp, a business strategy and software development consulting company. Previously, Campbell was the senior vice president and business unit manager of Legent’s system management business and helped with the successful acquisition of the company by Computer Associates. Campbell was also previously the vice president and business unit manager of NCR’s worldwide server and operating system business.

As senior vice president of sales and marketing, Knight will oversee Unitrends’ sales and marketing operations worldwide. During the past eight years, Knight served in executive sales and marketing roles at McAfee, Sage Software and Deep Nines. During this time he developed a reputation for creating effective lead generation strategies and channel partner programs, building successful sales teams, and working closely with channel partners to drive growth and deliver outstanding results.

Mark Campbell possesses a deep understanding of the latest trends and technologies and the ability to translate that into innovative IT solutions, while Tom Knight brings a strong record of developing global sales teams and achieving record results,” said McPherson. “With our recent funding, we are making key investments in both people and technology to accelerate Unitrends’ growth and to drive the success of our customers and partners. We are pleased Mark and Tom have joined our team, and we look forward to their contributions as we continue to build Unitrends’ leadership position within the business systems continuity and disaster recovery market.
