RAID Inc.’s Razor Storage Solution Qualified by Mimosa

For use with their NearPoint archiving platform

RAID Incorporated, a customized storage solution and services provider, announced that their Razor product has been qualified for use with Mimosa Systems next-generation content archiving solutions and services.

The Razor, launched earlier this year, is a compact 1U 4Gb Fibre Channel to 2.5" SAS solution, available in both single or dual controller. Expandable to 60 drives, the Razor has been officially qualified by Mimosa to extend its powerful NearPoint platform. Mimosa NearPoint is an integrated content archiving platform that can be extended with value-add options including eDiscovery, employee supervision, content monitoring alerts, Disaster Recovery, Storage Management and File system archiving. Each application is seamlessly integrated into the NearPoint platform, and maintains a ‘zero-agents’ approach. The unified archiving solution can be deployed quickly, with minimal time or need for extra user training, to extend the functionality and value of NearPoint.

The Razor offers exceptional price, performance and reliability. By consuming 40 percent less power than comparable solutions, the Razor drives down IT costs and reduces power consumption through a cooler enclosure, which results in better reliability. Its airflow requirements minimize the chance of encountering thermal issues. The high-end 15,000 RPM 2.5-inch SAS drives feature 1.6 million hours of mean time between failures (MTBF), which is 15 percent higher than 3.5-inch disk drives. The compact Razor device is 70% smaller than comparable 3.5" drive solutions on the market today.

"Mimosa continues our history of technology excellence and commitment to expand our content archiving offering that provides value to hundreds of loyal customers and partners worldwide," said Michael Hardy, senior director, business development of Mimosa. "By opening up the NearPoint platform to partners like RAID, we expect our customers to solve their most complex archiving challenges to minimize risk and increase their bottom lines."

"We are pleased to be partnered with Mimosa and being able to offer the first qualified 2.5" SAS RAID solution to its customers. The compact density, cost and performance are all critical elements in email archiving and data centers today. We feel that the Razor offers Mimosa’s customers all of these things," stated Marc DiZoglio, EVP of RAID.
