"Among our areas of focus will be activities such as standards development including SMI-S and XAM, oversight of our 20+ Technical Working Groups and overall support of the SNIA’s mission of advancing storage and information management worldwide."
The SNIA Technical Council is a group of industry experts that oversees the broad technical work of the Association. They monitor progress in technology and the industry at large and stay abreast of customer needs. At the same time, the Technical Council seeks new opportunities for the SNIA (e.g., solid state storage, enhancing data integrity and long-term information retention) to expand the SNIA’s efforts and thereby provide additional value to the industry. The Technical Council charters, structures and manages the technical groups that develop SNIA standards and software and works closely with the Board of Directors and other SNIA bodies in planning and executing technical activities, governing the Technical Working Groups, reviewing and approving all SNIA architectures and standards, overseeing content development for the SNIA Dictionary, and serving as a technical resource for all SNIA activities, including its role as technical program committee for SNIA’s Storage Developer Conference.
