RenewData and Forensics Consulting Solutions Form Partnership

For e-discovery and backup tape liability management services

RenewData, a provider of e-discovery and electronically stored information risk management (ESIRM) services and Forensic Consulting Solutions (FCS), a provider of e-discovery solutions, have formed a partnership to offer E-Discovery and Backup Tape Liability Management services to the legal and corporate community. The partnership combines the e-discovery and media extraction and processing expertise of RenewData with the e-discovery and consulting services of Forensic Consulting Solutions to provide proactive litigation readiness services that will assist organizations in such matters as implementing legally defensible information management rules, determining ESI retention policies, managing ESI in litigation and pre and post-merger integration planning.

The services provided by the two organizations will include RenewData’s Backup Tape Liability Management (BTLM) offering along with FCS’ Litigation Readiness and Electronic Discovery Consulting services. An organization’s often large inventories of historical data are likely their most at-risk data when faced with litigation and investigations. RenewData’s Backup Tape Liability Management Service evaluates the content of historical media to determine the retention obligations of the data based on the organization’s legal, regulatory, or retention management requirements. Once the data is identified, organizations can apply legal holds and retention policies to the data, while eliminating data not under legal hold or that has exceeded retention requirements.

"Knowing where the data is and what data is there, is imperative in today’s volatile and litigious environment," said K.J. Kuchta, CEO of Forensic Consulting Solutions. "RenewData is well known in the industry as the experts in extracting and processing data from large volumes of media. We’re proud to be partnering with them and taking advantage of their expertise to help our clients with their litigation readiness needs."

FCS’ ESI Consultants will provide Litigation Readiness and Electronic Discovery Consulting services such as, proactive and reactive ESI management, Rule 26 conference preparation, help with governance and records retention policies, and Early Case Assessment services. The heart of proactive information management is identifying records retention requirements and defining legally defensible processes for disposing of non-essential data rapidly, thus, reducing storage growth and other IT costs and at the same time, eliminating unnecessary e-discovery costs associated with processing and review of non-responsive ESI.

FCS’ ESI Consultants can also assist corporations in determining their level of preparedness for a discovery request and identifying areas of risk that can result in the loss of a case or judicial sanctions. FCS’ Consultants have worked with both law firms and corporate legal counsel and are well-known and respected advisors in the industry.

"The combination of our services with Forensic Consulting Solutions will enable organizations to get control of their historical data and begin managing it in a strategic manner," said Rich Cohen, Executive Vice President of Legal Solutions at RenewData. "Armed with the knowledge we can provide about their data, their consulting experts will be able to strategically assist organizations with their compliance, legal, and retention policies. We’re excited about the opportunities this partnership will provide, and we look forward to collaborating on client solutions with their highly knowledgeable consulting experts."

The reports obtained from the BTLM process can also be utilized to address Federal Rules of Civil Procedure which require both parties to provide a description of all ESI to the other party during any litigation matter. RenewData’s secure facility and chain-of-custody procedures also ensure that data is always handled in a forensically sound, defensible, and secure manner.
