Iomega’s REV and Zip to be Stopped?

The answer of Joel Schwartz, EMC

We asked the two following questions to Joel Schwartz, Senior VP and GM of Common Storage Platforms Operations at EMC:

1/ Are you going to stop the REV?
We have not decided.

2/ Are you going to stop the Zip?
We have not decided.

No decision means that there is a discussion. For us, it means that EMC is currently studying the possibility to stop these two product being the only disk drives made by EMC since its inception and only since its acquisition of Iomega. The storage giant has never manufactured any of these rotational devices or any storage components. We bet that EMC will stop this activity as Zip is not anymore successful and as REV has never been successful.
A first sign? On the Iomega’s Web site, the Zip unit is currently dumped at only $36.
