The new name and identity realign the company’s position as a leader in data storage products and services, with more than 35 years of experience and expertise. Gerard Smith, president and CEO of MRI, the parent company of DataSpan, recently addressed this name change. "Our old name, Media Recovery, caused a great deal of confusion in the market about what we do. Over the years, many companies have contacted us looking for help recovering data from damaged hard drives. Our new name, DataSpan, reflects our clients’ most valuable asset, their data, and how we will help them store, access and protect their data throughout its entire lifespan."

Over the past three decades, DataSpan has grown into the largest reseller of data tape in the U.S. that also offers an extensive menu of Datacenter services and a national direct sales force. With regional distribution warehouses across the country, a sophisticated Operations Center located in Dallas and an online store, DataSpan can provide emergency, 24-hour delivery, seven days a week. With thousands of customers, DataSpan provides products and services to more than half of the Fortune 1000.

First in the industry to offer both 100% Certified Tape and an RFID Tape and Asset Tracking solution, DataSpan is also the first and only SAS 70-certified supplier for data eradication services in the industry. Smith continued: "We plan on continuing to help our clients keep pace with the exponentially increasing amount of mission-critical data they need to store. Even though the storage landscape is evolving at a rapid pace, we remain focused on providing leading edge solutions that are right for them today, and ready for whatever storage challenges they will have tomorrow."
