Sepaton Guarantee Always at 40:1 but Including More Data Types

SEPATON, Inc. extended its FastStart Deduplication Package due to the popularity of the program first unveiled in August. With this announcement, the FastStart Plus Deduplication Package now provides industry leading deduplication ratios for the most business-critical enterprise data types, including Oracle and Microsoft Exchange.

The FastStart program continues to guarantee customers 40:1 deduplication ratios, and if not achieved, participants will receive required additional disk free. Through these guarantees and cost-effective packaging, the new FastStart Plus package takes the risk out of choosing an enterprise deduplication solution. The SEPATON FastStart Plus Deduplication Package is a fully configured, ready-to-install appliance complete with a SEPATON S2100-ES2 virtual tape library, DeltaStor data deduplication software, and one year of technical support.

According to The 451 Group, an industry analyst firm, in its June 2007 report entitled Data De-duplication: Changing the nature of data protection, de-duplication works best for data that displays a high level of redundancy. That makes it excellent for some data types, such as text files and databases. But identifying redundancies in some data types – especially random data files such as images, video and audio – is much more difficult. If there’s little or no duplicate data, then obviously de-duplication products don’t help much.

Designed to protect large-scale backup volumes, the FastStart Plus Deduplication Package can backup and restore data at 2.16 TB/hour per node, enabling enterprises to maintain backup windows and restore SLAs (service level agreements) with ease. Patented ContentAware technology enables the DeltaStor software to use metadata collected from the backup to identify duplicate data at the byte level for industry-leading capacity reduction.
