DataCore and Parallels Into Technology Alliance

To combine storage and server virtualization

DataCore Software, provider of storage virtualization software, and Parallels, provider of virtualization and automation software, announced the formation of a technology alliance. The purpose of the alliance is to provide mutual customers with an enhanced ‘complete virtualization’ (server virtualization + storage virtualization) user experience, and to facilitate cross-qualification of their respective solutions on an ongoing basis.

Businesses want to increase the efficiency and return on investment from their IT infrastructure and are recognizing the role virtualization plays in generating greater utilization, both in terms of storage and on their servers,” said Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Parallels. “Together, Parallels and DataCore can provide customers with an immediate return on their virtualization investment, and tremendous flexibility to meet or exceed tomorrow’s needs.”

Real-life Example: MB Trading Embraces Parallels and DataCore for End-to-End Virtualization
We run DataCore and Parallels in tandem and are extremely impressed by the combination,” said Brenton M. Brown, Chief Information Officer, MB Trading. “They give our enterprise all the benefits that come by embracing total virtualization: fast and reliable performance, highly efficient storage and server utilization and the flexibility to provision both server and storage resources easily, when and where needed.”

The Pinnacle Group, a Premier Partner with DataCore Software and an expert in virtualization, storage, high availability and disaster recovery infrastructures, helped MB Trading meet its business objectives by designing and implementing DataCore’s SANmelody as the backbone of its virtualization infrastructure, running in conjunction with Parallels. MB Trading produces a very high number of transactions on a daily basis, so redundancy, high availability, and performance played a large role in the decision making process.

MB Trading is a very high volume brokerage house and Parallels was the best choice for them because the organization needed the highest possible consolidation ratio per physical machine as well as the best performance possible,” said Aaron Schneider, Sales Engineering Director, The Pinnacle Group. “The key factor for MB Trading selecting Parallels over other server virtualization solutions was the fact that it could create more virtual machines using Parallels’ virtual containers than it could with independent, virtual machines.”

DataCore Software’s SANmelody and SANsymphony virtual storage solutions and Parallels, together deliver to the mainstream market enterprise-class, higher performance, server and storage virtualization capabilities at a fraction of the cost of alternative solutions. DataCore’s simple, low-cost networked storage combined with Parallel’s virtual server infrastructure enables benefits such as no downtime maintenance, automatic capacity management and business continuity without a heavy hardware investment.

Our objective is to work together to give our mutual customers the very best that the combination of storage and server virtualization can offer,” said George Teixeira, president and CEO, DataCore Software. “A DataCore and Parallels combination is a great choice for customers, because they each offer significant capability, performance and price advantages, and have strong track records of highly satisfied customers.
