New Customers for CommVault

North Kansas City Hospital, City of Edmonton, Cache Creek Casino, Southwest Corporate, and Wilton Industries

More companies are choosing CommVault Simpana 7.0 software to improve the performance, protection, recovery and operational efficiency of physical and virtual environments, the company announced.

Consolidation and business continuance are driving companies to rapidly adopt some of the hottest virtualization technologies in the market with no signs of slowdown. Accelerated adoption is expected, as current virtualization users indicate they plan to double the number of physical servers equipped for virtualization and increase the number of virtual machines running on those servers by 150% over the next several years, according to Enterprise Strategy Group.

"Today, large enterprises looking to reduce operational costs and complexity in their data centers are turning to virtualization to consolidate their servers, storage and operations. Because of its Singular Information Management approach, CommVault Simpana software is helping customers of all sizes realize the benefits of virtualization by enabling them to unify data management across both virtual and physical environments with a single console. Since Simpana software allows for a flexible IT infrastructure, our customers are able to immediately see ROI from the first moment they deploy the software suite," said Mike Marchi, vice president of product and segment marketing, CommVault.

Simpana Software Provides North Kansas City Hospital Peace of Mind with Fewer Incomplete Backups
Founded in 1958 as an 80-bed facility in North Kansas City, Mo., North Kansas City Hospital continues to expand to meet the needs of a growing community. Now with 451 beds and a 72-acre campus, the hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services in a state-of-the-art facility. As one of the first hospitals to implement a cardiac hospice program, digital imaging system, and a pharmacy ‘robot’ for dispensing medications, North Kansas City Hospital is at the forefront of technology. As the facility continues to generate and retain increasing amounts of digital data for compliance purposes, the hospital turned to CommVault and VMware to manage and protect all the data it created across several virtual machines.
"Prior to implementing Simpana software in our virtual environments four months ago, we used to experience at least one incomplete backup job per week. Now since implementing CommVault software, we have peace of mind that our backup jobs are completed reliably and on time. Virtualization has helped us save power and space and reduce cooling needs. Simpana software has reduced our backup administrative time by 75 percent. VMware and CommVault software are a win-win combination," said Artie Horn, systems process engineer, North Kansas City Hospital.

City of Edmonton
Relies on CommVault for Single, End-to-End Data Management Solution
City of Edmonton is a growing economic powerhouse of more than a million residents and a growing number of businesses. Backing up more than 40 TBs of data a week, the City was looking for a cost effective solution that would help reduce administrative and operational time.
"Managing all the data the City produces is a challenge so we were looking for a cost effective solution that would allow us to easily deploy more servers without adding more complexity. With VMware, we can implement 10 more virtual machines for every ESX server we deploy. As the amount of managed data grows, we need a robust product that helps to address not only our current, but future data needs as well. CommVault Simpana software makes my life easier because of the way that it simplifies the management of data on our virtual servers. With the single console, I’m able to run reports more easily and monitor backups as they happen. Since we’ve been using CommVault Simpana, my backup success rate has been nearly perfect," said Binh Truong, system analyst for the City of Edmonton.

Cache Creek Casinos
Chooses CommVault Over Symantec for Better Restore Capabilities and Hardware Agnostic Features
Cache Creek Casino Resort is owned and operated by the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians, located in Brooks, California. From its humble beginnings as a bingo hall in 1985, Cache Creek now features 2,700 slot machines and 142 table games, including a 28 table Poker Room. After conducting much due diligence, Cache Creek chose CommVault Simpana software to protect its Microsoft databases housed in its virtual environments.
"We were looking for a solution that we could seamlessly integrate with our existing hardware that also allowed us access to the tier one application that is housed on our Microsoft SQL database and Exchange Server. We were impressed with Simpana 7.0’s ability to increase the number of successful backups we have across our 38 virtual machines. We chose CommVault software over other vendors including Symantec Veritas NetBackup because the software allows us to restore these machines quickly and easily. The beauty of VMware is that it allows us to implement data projects we never could before and CommVault makes it a piece of cake to manage," said David Forbes, IT operations manager, Cache Creek Casino Resort.

Southwest Corporate Federal Credit Union Uses Simpana for Remote Office Replication of Virtual Servers
Southwest Corporate Federal Credit Union (Southwest Corporate) is a leading corporate credit union in the U.S. and serves more than 1,500 credit unions nationwide with assets of over $12 billion. With its growing virtual environment, Southwest Corporate was looking for a more robust and reliable data management solution to replicate the data from its corporate office to its co-location site 30 miles away.
"In our business, data availability and reliability is critical with no margin for error. As we move our infrastructure to a predominantly virtual environment, we needed a reliable solution that would allow us to replicate between our offices. CommVault made good on its promise to not only replicate this data, but it has also streamlined the backup process which has reduced administrative and operational time. Unlike the laborious manual backup jobs we had to do with other services, the Simpana suite has automated this process for us. We’ve seen huge benefits in keeping our servers up and running including a dramatic improvement for us in terms of recoverability and reliability when completing our backups," said Jerod Wright, network services manager, Southwest Corporate.

Wilton Industries Turns to Simpana Software for Flexibility and Improved Data Center Efficiency
For over 80 years, Wilton Industries has been the leader in cake decorating, quality bakeware, and food crafting. As the number one resource for nationally-located decorating classes and supplying professional bakeware online and through their publications, Wilton was looking for best-in-class data management solution to manage its virtual environment.
"With over 17 TBs to backup regularly, CommVault software’s ability to manage data seamlessly across our virtual environment was critical in our decision to select CommVault. After working with and evaluating several competitors including CA, CommVault demonstrated better overall management of data on our virtual servers, saving us time and money as we moved forward with our virtualization strategy. With its flexible architecture, we have seen the benefits of our Simpana software deployment immediately. We have also experienced a significant reduction in the time it takes to perform our weekend backups from 54 hours to 36 hours and because of this, plan to increase the use of Simpana across our entire enterprise in the near future," said Bill Mathews, director of IS, Wilton Industries.
