Apacer Solutions to Increase Memory of Netbook Ultra-Portable Laptops
With two flash drives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 26, 2008 at 3:11 pmIntel’s Netbook ultra-portable notebook PC concept is revolutionizing the global laptop market. Several different vendors have begun to roll out Netbook products. These low-priced, lightweight, easy to use laptops provide an impressive level of performance and utility, making them just what the modern consumer needs. Netbooks have been racking up high sales performance all over the world. Now, Apacer Technology has introduced two new add-on storage devices specially designed to meet the needs of the Netbook ultra-portable laptop: the SDHC Class 6 Memory Card, and the AH421 USB Drive. With the appearance of these add-on storage products, users of Netbook ultra-portable laptops no longer need to worry about not having enough memory capacity.
Netbook products are designed to be small, light, and shock-resistant, so most products of this type use built-in solid-state drives (SSDs). The drawback with using SSD memory is the limited storage capacity. Netbook laptops are positioned to serve as the consumer’s second laptop, or as a device that they can take with them when traveling; they are not designed to serve as a main data storage device. Even so, users may well find that the built-in storage capacity of 4GB – 20GB is insufficient to meet their needs. The availability of suitable add-on storage devices is thus an issue of considerable importance. A Netbook will normally be equipped with 1-2 SDHC memory card slots and 3 or so USB ports; these can be used to expand the memory capacity. Some consumers have opted to buy conventional external hard drives. However, these devices tend to be heavy and noisy, and they are not especially shock-resistant. Using an external hard drive negates many of the advantages that a Netbook offers.
Apacer Technology has now introduced its SDHC Class 6 Memory Card and AH421 USB Drive to meet the data storage needs of Netbook users. Apacer’s SDHC Class 6 Memory Card can be inserted all the way into a Netbook’s memory card slot; it is lightweight and convenient to use, doesn’t occupy too much space and doesn’t take long to install. This is a multipurpose memory card that can also be used in a handheld device or digital camera. The AH421 USB Drive, which has been specially created for use in Netbook ultra-portable laptops, is designed so that it fits snugly against the Netbook body; there is no need to extract it after use. The AH421 can also be swiveled around 180 degrees to give easy access to other USB ports. The AH421’s unique design won it Germany’s iF design award in 2008. Both the AH421 USB Drive and the SDHC Memory Card are available in a range of different storage capacities, from 4GB up to 16GB.
By comparison with traditional external hard drives, Apacer’s SDHC Memory Card and AH421 USB Drive are noise-free, lighter, more shock-resistant, and easier to use. There is no need for extra cabling, and the user does not need to keep pulling them out and plugging them in again. They also come with Apacer limited product lifetime warranty. Apacer’s SDHC Class 6 Memory Card and AH421 USB Drive represent the ideal choice for anyone looking for an add-on storage solution for their Netbook.
