TV Globo began migrating from standard definition operations to high definition digital processes in 2007 when it started to air content in HDTV. The new BrightDrive Pro2 system will be used for TV Globo’s digital post and VFX services providing high speed data delivery and media sharing for all visual effects systems. The majority of the media throughput will be in HD.

TV Globo will use BrightDrive with two real-time workspaces. Bright Systems will integrate the system with some of TV Globo’s existing data infrastructure as well as multiple Autodesk Flame and Inferno systems. All artists will be able to access and share the same 2k and HD content simultaneously without the need to copy any data between workstations.

"We needed a system that could provide centralized storage coupled with fast and easy access to media from all of our VFX workstations," said Nelson Faria, TV Globo Director of Engineering. "Also, we have recently started to significantly increase the amount of work we do in HD and plan to move our core business to HD over the coming year. This means we need to invest in the highest performing data infrastructure. We chose BrightDrive because of its reputation of reliability and performance in the field. It provides a very efficient, scalable and collaborative productive environment."

BrightDrive also streamlines TV Globo’s data management functions and increases drive capacity using its own consolidated hardware and image-aware data management applications. Artists are able to work with single and mixed resolution projects without reformatting and can output in any format including SD, PAL, HD 720p, 1080i, 24p, HDCAM SR, uncompressed HD, 4;4:4 and 2K.
