Xiotech Supporting VMware Site Recovery Manager
To accelerate DR in virtual environments
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 24, 2008 at 3:52 pmXiotech Corporation announced the integration with VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM), an application that makes disaster recovery rapid, reliable and manageable so organizations can better meet recovery objectives. Xiotech’s storage systems will be certified to support VMware SRM later this year, enabling customers to accelerate disaster recovery processes in virtual environments, while reducing the risk and complexities associated with implementing a disaster recovery process.
This announcement builds on Xiotech’s current support for VMware Infrastructure environments with Virtual View, an add-on for the company’s ICON Manager user interface that dramatically simplifies storage monitoring, management and provisioning tasks in virtual environments.
"Integration of VMware SRM into our storage solutions illustrates both Xiotech’s commitment to virtual environments and the power of Xiotech’s Web Services," said Xiotech Product Management Director Eric Lomascolo. "For Xiotech customers, using VMware solutions with Xiotech storage just gets easier and less expensive."
Xiotech, a VMware global Technology Alliance Partner, will integrate VMware SRM primarily through Web Services and TimeScale GeoRep data replication software, designed for users of Xiotech’s Emprise 7000 and Magnitude 3D 4000 storage systems. TimeScale GeoRep provides array-based replication between two Xiotech storage systems in either a synchronous or asynchronous manner, allowing for added capability in data protection and recovery.
