Dell and EMC Expand Support for Oracle Optimized Warehouse Initiative
With a new solution based on PowerEdge servers and CLARiiON CX4 disk arrays
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 24, 2008 at 3:52 pmDell and EMC announced expanded support for the Oracle Optimized Warehouse Initiative with a new solution designed to make it easier for companies to implement cost-effective, high-performing, scalable data warehousing. The Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC is built on Dell’s next generation of PowerEdge rack-optimized servers and the new EMC CLARiiON CX4, the latest generation of the CLARiiON family of networked storage systems. The CLARiiON CX4, which includes virtual provisioning, flash storage, advanced connectivity and other capabilities, is offered by Dell under the Dell/EMC brand.
This new pre-configured, validated Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC adds to the one terabyte solution released last year and greatly enhances the number of terabytes supported. Available through Dell, the Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC brings together Oracle Database Enterprise Edition, Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Partitioning with Dell’s PowerEdge R900 with four quad-core Intel Xeon 7400 series processors and the Dell/EMC CX4-960 storage array that includes virtual provisioning and support for 8-10 terabytes of data.
"At Dell, our mission is to remove complexity for our customers and Simplify IT," said Rick Becker, vice president of Software and Solutions, Dell Product Group. "Working with Oracle and EMC, we can help simplify implementation of a sophisticated data warehouse solution which our customers can scale with their business."
"EMC and Oracle have worked to provide leading data warehouse solutions for more than a decade and the new Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC provides our mutual customers with tremendous value," said EMC’s Mike O’Neill, vice president of Technology Alliances. "Our joint activities have focused on the three most common data warehouse workloads which include high performance, mainstream, and high capacity. With these new optimized Dell-EMC configurations, customers can leverage pre-installed, pre-configured solutions to help reduce the purchase cycle and streamline data warehouse deployments."
"We are pleased that Dell and EMC continue to leverage the scalability, reliability and security of the Oracle Database to provide customers with solutions that are easy to deploy and meet their growing data warehouse needs," said Stephen Boyle, vice president, Global Platform Alliances, Oracle.
