Coraid Introduces Compact SAN, Ready for 10GbE

Supporting twenty-four 2.5-inch SATA disks in a 2U rack

Coraid announced the availability of the EtherDrive LD2461 Storage Appliance, a high performance RAID storage appliance that attaches to an AoE SAN using 10 Gigabit Ethernet. The EtherDrive LD2461 Storage Applaince is uniquely suited for virtualization with high IOP loads where maximum spindle count and minimum rack space is critical. Utilizing Coraid’s newly introduced AoE driver for VMware’s ESX hypervisor, EtherDrive LD2461 supports 24 x 2.5" SATA disks in a 2U rack mount chassis.

"Our newest EtherDrive storage appliances offer very high disk density in a reliable and affordable configuration. These products are ideally suited for ESX server and VMFS," said James Kemp, CEO of Coraid. "We are providing the most demanding virtualized environments with the most affordable SAN available on the market today."

The new EtherDrive LD2461 was introduced to meet the specific requirements for server virtualization. These applications require high IOPs and high throughput, and the LD2461 delivers performance of more than 500 MB/sec at an affordable price.

The new Coraid EtherDrive LD2461 is available now and has a list price of $10,995 without disks.
