Introduced to the wireless and software industry professionals during the CTIA Wireless I.T. and Entertainment show at San Francisco’s Moscone Center West, SendPhotos is a full-featured online photo storage, sharing and editing tool that automates uploading of camera phone images to Avanquest’s SendPhotos Web portal or any portal of the user’s choice for immediate posting, sharing or synchronization with the photo library on the user’s PC.
SendPhotos delivers a complete value-added service that can drive 3G network data utilization to boost ARPU for operators and increase sales of higher resolution camera phones to their network subscribers. Available both as an OEM customizable version and directly from Avanquest in a retail version, the latest SendPhotos edition lets users share photos from the SendPhotos web server using popular photo sharing and social networking sites. Ordering professional prints and photo-based gifts is also available as a service for direct shipment to the user or pick-up at a local retail outlet.
Compatible with a range of Symbian- and Java-based mobile handsets from all major manufacturers, SendPhotos mobile client lets users automatically send, upload and share their photos from the mobile device. A dedicated version for iPhone with photo editing feature will also be launched. The software’s unique device memory management feature detects the phone or external memory level to automatically move photos to the Web server, replacing the original with a thumbnail on the device to avoid memory overload and enabling users to snap virtually an unlimited number of photos.
"SendPhotos was designed from the ground up to enable today’s multimedia users to create and customize their own digital imaging ecosystem," said Julie Shevlin, Vice President, OEM, Avanquest Software. "Avanquest’s objective is to tightly bind a mobile device, remote services and PC applications, providing a seamless and satisfying experience on all fronts. This true convergence adds real value to the end-user experience, OEM customers and their partners."
The elements in the SendPhotos digital imaging ecosystem, all of which can be tailored to meet the feature and branding requires of OEM partners such as wireless operators or mobile device manufacturers, include:
SendPhotos PC Client: Includes photo editing features, Crop, Red Eye Removal, Brightness/Contrast and Color and Exposure Correction, and provides more than 200 design templates for creating "Photo Stories" which are automatically resized and converted to HTML for emailing to friends and family or for posting online.
SendPhotos Web: The SendPhotos Web menu makes it easy to grant access rights for Private and Public sharing options and facilitates creation of guest accounts. Photo management features give users the ability to easily view photo details, use search function to quickly locate photos and to create slideshows.
SendPhotos Mobile Client: The SendPhotos Mobile Client’s easy Set-up Wizard walks users through creating their SendPhotos Web login and general application settings. The software also includes options that allow mobile subscribers to avoid costly data charges associated with uploading photos while roaming.
SendPhotos employs a modular architecture based on a next generation platform and allows content to be automatically distributed to multiple PCs and storage devices in a home network and to connected personal media players (PMPs) and the growing base of digital picture frames as well.
The updated edition of SendPhotos will be available in October.
