"This new version of esXPRESS reinforces our position as the market leader in data protection for virtualized environments," said Sridhar Murthy, Chief Executive Officer, PHD Technologies. "We have designed v3.5 based on the needs of our customers; our latest innovations further enhance the user experience, improve scalability, and facilitate material cost savings for our customers."
esXPRESS v3.5 features include:
Data De-Duplication Technology
Our new Data De-Duplication Technology enables Virtual Full backups, which back up each unique data block across all Virtual Machines instead of creating separate full and delta backups for each Virtual Machine. The technology also comes with a new backup target which is created using a virtual SAN appliance and built on the XVS Virtual Machine, affording the same synchronous or asynchronous replication capabilities over the LAN or WAN links.
"Our new Data De-Duplication engine works in conjunction with our Virtual Backup Appliance to provide the new Virtual Full backups and the new backup target," said Ron McKelvey, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of PHD Technologies. "These added features enable significant savings for our users by avoiding tedious labor, additional storage, network, bandwidth and I/O capacity costs."
New Global User Interface
esXPRESS v3.5 includes a web-based centralized management interface, enabling hassle free and rapid large scale configuration. The centralized management is integrated into the Virtual Center, and can also be accessed through any standard web browser. The interface is provided by a dedicated Virtual Appliance, which provides resilience against hardware failure and eliminates the need for additional Operating System licenses.
esXPRESS v3.5 will be showcased at VMworld 2008 and will be generally available in Q4 2008. When released, v3.5 will be available for purchase through PHD Technologies’ network of resellers.
