Tek-Tools Expands Alliance With Sun

The computer manufacturer will promote and sell the Profiler Suite of monitoring and reporting software.

Tek-Tools Software, Inc. is working with Sun Microsystems to promote and sell its Tek-Tools Profiler Suite of monitoring and reporting software.

The Sun(TM) Common Array Manager (CAM) combined with the Tek-Tools Profiler Suite provides extensibility to Sun customers for unified reporting, monitoring, forecasting, and notification across the entire physical or virtualized infrastructure. The Profiler Suite brings visibility to Sun’s storage arrays with performance and capacity management reporting and extends that visibility to include heterogeneous environments.

Given the pressure to reduce IT spend and a strong emphasis on Green, it is important for customers to be able to optimize their existing IT infrastructure investments,” said Bob Laliberte, analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “In many cases this also leads to a heterogeneous mix of storage and server technologies, each with its own management software, creating a burden to manage so many individual interfaces. Tek-Tools offers a single management console for customers to manage these heterogeneous environments and has a strong track record of adding new technologies to support customers with a comprehensive solution to manage both physical and virtualized IT assets – from one place. This announcement supporting Sun’s CAM is another great example of Tek-Tools’ efforts to provide solutions for diverse customers’ environments.”

The Sun/Tek-Tools joint solution offering enables:

  • Advanced storage reporting
  • Data visualization
  • Performance and capacity management
  • Forecasting and predictive analysis

Tek-Tools has been a part of the Sun Partner Advantage Program for many years,” said Bob Handlin, a Senior Product Manager in Sun’s storage software group. “Tek-Tools has a proven track record of adding value to the Sun storage line and customers will benefit from new storage reporting solutions for the Sun midrange and legacy array product lines.”

We look forward to working together to drive net new growth for both Sun and Tek-Tools,” said Cindy Whitley, COO, Tek-Tools. “It is our goal to deliver real bottom-line value to Sun customers with accurate, reliable, and easy access to information about their IT infrastructures in order to make informed business decisions that lead to optimization, efficiency, and cost savings. We take pride in our seamless integration with Sun’s products, and look forward to continuing to offer a comprehensive reporting and monitoring software solution.”
