Falcon/FTI Starts BD-R Production in UAE

Falcon Technologies International LLC has announced the start of Blu-ray Disc mass production and deliveries from its facilities located in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah/United Arab Emirates.

This production start is the result of a Strategic Alliance and a cooperation program between FTI and a leading Japanese pioneer in the blue laser recording technology. Production started last July and capacity is expected to double by end of September according to a pre-established ramp-up plan.

The single layer 4X recordable BD-R and the 2X rewritable BD-RE discs manufactured by FTI are conform to the format standards and are both certified by the BDA (Blu-ray Disc Association). These discs meet the most stringent international standards and the highest quality specifications.

The majority of the Blu-ray production will be exported to Japan and will be commercialized in a variety of special packaging for the Japanese consumer market.

In parallel to these Blu-ray products for the Japanese consumer segment, FTI is also launching its high storage capacity professional line of Pro and Archival Bluray products. This product line will be commercialized under ‘Falcon Media Pro’ brand and will also be available to a selected number of private labels and OEM customers. This professional line will include the single layer 25GB products as well as dual layer 50GB discs.
