155% CAGR Growth for SSDs Into Enterprise Servers

Solid State Drives will see rapid adoption in enterprise servers and storage systems in the near term. That’s the key finding of a new study entitled: Solid-State Drives in the Enterprise. The study was introduced by Objective Analysis at the Flash Memory Summit.

“SSDs are poised for explosive growth in the enterprise, with unit shipments seeing a 151% average annual growth through 2013,” said Jim Handy, the report’s author. “This is driven by the recent discovery by IT managers that they can significantly reduce their IT spend by replacing hard drives with a technology that at first flush appears to be significantly more costly.”

This 60-page report is an in-depth review of the enterprise SSD market that investigates the reasons that OEMs and their customers are starting to use enterprise SSDs over established alternatives. The report covers the various alternatives and their strengths and weaknesses, and explains how SSDs can be used in many different kinds of enterprise systems to reduce the storage system hardware yielding cost, power, and space needs while improving system throughput. Forecasts for each of the key enterprise applications show consumption patterns for each, and are rolled up into a consolidated forecast for the entire enterprise SSD market.
