EasyCo President and CTO Presented Managed Flash Technology

At LinuxWorld 2008

EasyCo LLC, in Solid State Disk (SSD) technology, discussed the latest developments of their Managed Flash Technology with attendees at LinuxWorld Conference and Expo.

Managed Flash Technology (MFT) significantly improves processing speeds of solid state disks (Flash memory engineered to look like a disk drive to the processor). This is possible with EasyCo’s technology that solves a long-standing problem of traditional disk drives: random writes. Dubbed The 300,000 RPM Disk Drive, MFT combines SSD technology with a patent-pending drive management layer resulting in disk performance that is 10 to 30 times faster than 15K RPM disk drives when working with random IO operations.

"The MFT solution permits you to scale your CPU and disk storage configurations as much as 30 times the number of users or hits," reports Sam Anderson, company president, "permitting you to reach the same level of performance with a handful of MFT drives that would be required with dozens or even hundreds of traditional disk drives."

EasyCo predicts a very large market for its MFT solution, as the size of databases grow along with the volume of random writes. While processor and memory speeds and capacities have grown exponentially, the growth of disk storage devices had plodded along at a much slower pace, resulting in the current imbalance where random IO performance has become the current bottleneck in application performance.
