Hitachi: Fiscal 1Q08 Financial Results

We publish here only the results of Hitachi Ltd. for its storage activities during its first fiscal quarter (1Q08) ending in June 30, 2008.

Note that the HDD business continues to be profitable, as for the preceding quarter, with solid growth (+45% in units) for the enterprise devices. WD (with sales of $1,993 million and 35.2 million units shipped for the same calendar quarter) is now largely in front of Hitachi GST, even in the notebook market (11.7 million devices for WD and 11.0 million for HGST).

Surprisingly, Hitachi-LG Data Storage is shipping about the same number of optical disc drives and HDDs.
