InMage Joins Sun Partner Program

Porting its disaster recovery and business continuity software to Solaris OS

InMage Systems, Inc. announced that it is a Principal Partner in the Sun Partner Advantage Program, for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). InMage Systems qualified for this level by meeting Sun’s stringent criteria for excellence as a supplier of disaster recovery and business continuity software solutions, and by committing to tight strategic and technical alignment with Sun.

By achieving Principal Partner status, InMage Systems joins the growing community of ISVs that are developing applications for or porting applications to the Sun platform. The benefits to Sun customers include access to a broader range of pre-tested, optimized solutions; investment protection and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) through collaborative engineering between Sun and its partners; and a higher level of predictability and support as Sun rolls out its latest technologies and software upgrades.

DR-Scout’s robust, software-loaded architecture makes it ideal for efficient, highly scalable processing in the most demanding data replication environments. The solution consists of host agents and control servers. Host agents include DR-Scout VX for volume-level continuous data protection (CDP) and DR-Scout FX for scheduled file-level protection. Each has a small footprint on the host and only moves byte-level differences based on data changes.

DR-Scout CX is the control server behind the solution, managing and offloading CPU-intensive operations for efficient data replication. Its CDP/DR modeler helps IT staff accurately provision secondary disk storage and bandwidth. DR-Scout provides quick operational restore via CDP for outages of even one day or more, and efficient bandwidth utilization for longer-term disaster recovery and remote replication to a secondary site.

Further adding value to the partnership, InMage is currently developing fabric-based storage area network (SAN) solutions with industry leader Brocade. The new products will provide customers with improved, agent-less virtual server protection and simplified, more scalable business continuity. At the fabric level, customers can better consolidate their storage and data protection operations in SAN environments.

Specifically, InMage Systems is porting its DR-Scout to the Solaris Operating System (OS).

As a Principal Partner in the Sun Partner Advantage Program, InMage will focus on its unique niche in the marketplace — disaster recovery and business continuity software built on a unique, world-class architecture — to deliver data protection capabilities to today’s enterprises. Mutual customers will benefit from InMage’s ongoing collaboration and integration with Sun, and Sun’s status as a preferred platform for the deployment of its flagship DR-Scout solution.

"Sun continues to be one of the leading innovators in our industry and the platform of choice for many of our customers," said Robert Sandie, executive vice president of corporate development, InMage Systems. "Sun’s collaborative business model works well for our company and our customers, and now as a Principal Partner in the Sun Partner Advantage Program we’re in a stronger position to leverage Sun’s technical resources and expertise to serve our customers."

"We are pleased to have InMage Systems join the Sun Partner Advantage Program for ISVs," said Juan Carlos Soto, vice president of global market development and engineering, Sun Microsystems, Inc. "By leveraging DR-Scout with Sun technology, organizations can take advantage of advanced disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities on the industry’s highest performing and most scalable platform."
