To deliver content infrastructure for healthcare
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 14, 2008 at 3:12 pmTeraMedica Healthcare Technology, in integration, management and distribution of clinical content in the healthcare domain and based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, announced it has partnered with Caringo, Inc., a provider of clustered storage software for active and archive content.
The partnership is the result of market and customer demand for a more cost-effective approach to managing and storing medical images and health information. Combining TeraMedica Evercore with CAStor from Caringo provides the most affordable and comprehensive solution to the healthcare industry to manage, protect and archive the avalanche of digital images and patient information being generated today and in the future.
Worldwide, healthcare is one of the fastest growing industries in terms of the amount of digital content and data being generated as well as demand for storage capacity. Effectively managing patient data and images across heterogeneous platforms while ensuring its protection and availability is critical to improving the quality and speed of patient care.
The combined solution gives healthcare organizations greater flexibility because Evercore seamlessly works across heterogeneous clinical systems and CAStor runs on standard, commodity server (x86) platforms. This gives customers freedom of choice in the systems and hardware platforms they prefer without being locked into proprietary technologies.
"TeraMedica’s Evercore software complements Caringo’s CAStor by enabling access to medical images and other clinical digital content in a typical hospital environment with multi-vendors," said Jim Prekop, President and CEO of TeraMedica. “The joint solution delivers an enterprise approach to providing a comprehensive clinical-classification content middleware and storage management model, within the imaging marketplace.” said Prekop. “Healthcare organizations are challenged with the complexity and cost of managing and storing more and more images and patient data, which makes the integration of Evercore and CAStor an ideal solution for the industry” said Mark Goros, CEO at Caringo. “Together, we offer a solution that increases quality and efficiency while reducing the long-term costs of storage and information management."
TeraMedica’s Evercore allows physicians and other caregivers instant access from the existing enterprise EMR to medical images (x-rays, cardiograms, MRI scans) together with digital content such as electronic reports. CAStor delivers an affordable, scalable and reliable content storage cluster with features needed to meet HIPAA compliance. This combination of intelligent clinical classification and optimized storage management delivers increases in productivity and return on investment.
