Florida-Based ElectroNerdz Offers Offsite Data Protection for $6/Month
Using ROBOBAK software suite
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 14, 2008 at 3:14 pmAdvanced data protection technology, being deployed by a Lakeland-based firm, means hurricane season will contain one less headache for dozens of small businesses throughout Central Florida. ElectroNerdz, Inc., a locally-owned technology solutions provider, has begun offering offsite data protection for as little as six dollars per month. To accomplish this, ElectroNerdz is using the ROBOBAK Version 8 data protection software suite, allowing these firms to securely use online backup to protect the corporate-critical information that keeps them in business.
“We used to ask our clients to back up their information on tape, then move it offsite. We found that the rate of getting them to actually do it was abysmal,” said Bobby Kuzma, ElectroNerdz’ vice president of professional services. “And most of our clients aren’t large enough to justify having a service come by to pick up their tapes. Even if they were, shipping the tapes off to a salt mine somewhere means losing their data for at least a day, if not more.”
Kuzma realized that by adding online backup, he would provide his clients with a valuable service; yet, most of the options he examined (like eVault or Asigra) were too costly. He discovered ROBOBAK, and quickly found that Version 8 met his needs, at a price that both he and his customers could afford.
In addition, Kuzma found that ROBOBAK Version 8 provides him and his customers with product advantages usually found in solutions that cost far more, such as ‘at the source’ de-duplication, compression and in-flight data encryption of files. ROBOBAK makes it possible for Kuzma to install the software at unlimited remote or branch offices, regardless of where they are located and without the need the install software “agents” on each machine, providing companies with the tools they need to ensure that corporate-critical information is quickly and reliably backed up, and will be there when needed the most.
“Our restores go as flawlessly as our backups,” Kuzma said. He cited one company that routinely either corrupts or accidentally deletes a critical Excel spreadsheet “at least two or three times a week.” Kuzma noted that ROBOBAK’s real-world continuous data protection (CDP) enables the company to configure snapshots of its data every 15 minutes, and recover the spreadsheet in an up-to-date, as-needed manner.
ElectroNerdz, Kuzma said, anticipates that it will quadruple its data protection business over the next 18 months, and projects nationwide growth; the company already has customers in Columbus, Phoenix, Charlotte and other cities outside Florida. “ROBOBAK is a hands-free, set it and forget it solution,” Kuzma said. “And as we grow, I know it will scale without requiring us to add additional hardware, or disrupt our service to our customers. We couldn’t offer this service to our customers if we needed to do the usual hand-holding required by other software products.”
The ROBOBAK Version 8 Data Protection software suite is available in the Standard and Enterprise editions, with prices beginning at $1,000 for 100 GB.
