Blu-ray, the next-generation optical disc format, features high resolution images, superior surround sound capability and innovative special features to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as the storing of large amounts of data. Blu-ray discs can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and up to 50GB on a dual-layer disc providing users with the extra storage space needed for large audio or video files and bonus features on the same disc. No more is there a need to add extra discs for files that would have taken two or three DVDs.
