This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 11, 2008 at 2:16 pmThe Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) announced its agenda and speaker line-up for the 2008 Storage Developer Conference. Keynote speakers will represent companies including Amazon, Linux Foundation, NetApp, Samba Team, Sun Microsystems and VMware. The keynotes and more than 50 additional conference sessions will address SNIA standards work related to the Storage Management Initiative-Specification (SMI-S) and the eXtensible Access Method (XAM) as well as emerging trends including Fibre Channel Over Ethernet (FCoE), Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI), virtualization platforms, storage security, green technologies, Server Message Block (SMB) and SMB2 and Common Internet File System (CIFS), among many others.
Now in its fourth year, the Storage Developer Conference will be held Sept. 22-25, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara, California. The conference is aimed at bringing together more than 250 storage developers, engineers, product managers, and related IT development staff to help them shorten time to market, increase acceptability and interoperability in production environments and understand where storage technologies are heading.
"The Storage Developer Conference is the only event created by storage practitioners for IT practitioners driving innovation in the Storage industry," said Vincent Franceschini, chairman of the SNIA. "By bringing together technology leaders from around the industry to drive sessions that encourage discussion, dialogue and the sharing of best practices, I am confident that this year’s conference will serve as a catalyst for the creation of groundbreaking technologies and standards."
As an added feature of the conference, the SNIA will also be hosting live Hands-On Lab for Developers (HOLD) sessions. The HOLD sessions will provide attendees the ability to test-drive the latest programs, development environments, tools and techniques in the storage and information management development market today in a classroom-style setting.
Storage Developer Conference attendees will also be able to participate in the 12th Annual CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest. Underwritten by Microsoft, the Plugfest will allow vendors to test, identify and address interoperability challenges in a collaborative, yet secure, environment. In addition to Microsoft, participants in the Plugfest are likely to include Apple, NetApp, Sun and the Samba Team.
Other participating sponsors to the Storage Developer Conference as of this release include IBM, NetApp, MRV and Sun.
