Atempo Expands its Digital Archiving Platform
With email archiving, coming from the acquisition of Lighthouse Global Technologies last February
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 17, 2008 at 3:53 pmAtempo, Inc. introduced Atempo Digital Archive for Messaging (ADAM) 2.0, a new e-mail and instant messaging archiving software optimized for medium and large enterprises to address the challenges of messaging data growth, eDiscovery and regulatory compliance. ADAM 2.0 is the first release of an e-mail archiving solution from Atempo since the acquisition of Lighthouse Global Technologies in February 2008. Uniquely developed for both mailbox management and long-term retention of an organization’s e-mail, IM and other electronic messaging, the feature-rich software stands apart through its close integration with Atempo’s file archiving software, Atempo Digital Archive (ADA), which together delivers Integrated Content Archiving (ICA) within an organization.
ADAM integrates seamlessly with well-known mail servers such as Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes as well as SMTP and enables companies to easily migrate critical e-mail data from primary storage onto inexpensive storage media. This, coupled with its e-mail de-duplication technology, simplifies e-mail administration, enables organizations to provide an unlimited mailbox size to users and provides a compelling ROI based on today’s hardware costs. In addition, ADAM’s embedded full-context index and search capability allows users to quickly and easily search for specific e-mails, attachments and other messaging files. This search functionality comes with industry-leading selection criteria, enabling simpler searches and faster retrievals.
"The introduction of ADAM now gives Atempo a full range of solutions that protects and preserves all types of data on any system and at any stage in their lifecycle," said Laura DuBois, research director at IDC. "Moreover, with ADAM’s initial integration with ADA, Atempo begins to deliver on its vision of a truly integrated content archiving platform."
ADAM 2.0 represents Atempo’s first major step in delivering a completely integrated archiving platform to the market. Having released its file archiving platform, ADA, in April 2008, Atempo now integrates full content indexing and search along with de-duplication and a common storage management layer into both ADA and ADAM. Additionally, ADAM now offers audit control and tracking as well as retention policy management to enable compliance and support eDiscovery processes.
"The launch of ADAM is a milestone for Atempo and delivers on the promise of providing a broad set of functionality to protect and archive critical data for our over 3,400 clients worldwide," says Karim Toubba, vice president of marketing and product management at Atempo. "We continue to see broader demand from our customers for solutions that can deliver archiving capabilities for all types of content, including unstructured files, e-mail and IM."
The ADAM 2.0 server platform runs on Windows, Linux and UNIX operating systems and will be generally available on June 30, 2008.
