HSBC France Integrates Diskeeper on Its Two Data Centers
Disk defragmentation avoids hours needed to copy large amount of data.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 16, 2008 at 3:47 pmHSBC France has experienced major benefits from costs savings and better overall productivity after integrating Diskeeper from Diskeeper UK on its two data-centres.
Didier Guieu, System-Architecture Engineer at HSBC France, stated: "Performance has improved, back up and data access time have been considerably reduced. We win both in terms of time and money."
In 1998, Didier Guieu observed that high levels of fragmentation were slowing down the overall system performance. He relates: "Hours were needed to copy large amount of data, and back ups were not concluding. We noticed that when the server was fragmented, the back up time sometimes needed twice as long to run." A high number of help desk calls were also related to fragmentation issues and were monopolizing the technicians’ availability.
Mr Guieu chose Diskeeper to resolve these issues. He explains: "Diskeeper can defragment big volumes, with minimum impact on the system." After just one week, Diskeeper reduced significantly the number of problems and errors previously experienced on the server by HSBC France.
The new technology InvisiTasking was particularly appreciated: "The product is transparent. It has no impact on applications. Users don’t notice that Diskeeper is working. This way, servers’ performance can stay on top at all times."
Didier Guieu concluded: "We are really satisfied with the improvements delivered by Diskeeper which totally answered all our needs."
