With a new GUI and 4Gb FC support, as well as certification for CommVault, HP, Oracle and Tivoli
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 16, 2008 at 3:48 pmData Domain announced new enterprise enhancements to the Data Domain Virtual Tape Library software option, including a new graphic user interface (GUI) and 4Gb Fibre Channel fabric support. In addition, the Data Domain VTL software has now been certified for a wide range of additional protection software vendor offerings.
Data Domain’s VTL option now includes a new intuitive browser-based GUI for VTL configuration and management. This GUI, part of the integrated Data Domain Enterprise Manager suite of integrated, cross-system management tools, greatly simplifies the process of provisioning and administration of the tape-library-like artefacts of the standard VTL interface. In addition, all supported enterprise backup applications can communicate with the Data Domain VTL software over multiple, high-performance 4Gb Fibre Channel interfaces for improved performance and greater deployment flexibility and speed.
Data Domain VTL software certifications now include CommVault Simpana data protection software and HP’s Data Protector backup and recovery software. The Data Domain VTL is also now certified with Oracle Secure Backup, centralized backup management software. In addition, the Data Domain VTL software option has achieved IBM Ready for Tivoli validation for Tivoli Storage Manager.
“Data Domain continues to drive additional value into its products and expand its certification base with the latest offerings from its industry leading technology partners,” said Brian Biles, Vice President of Product Management, Data Domain. “Through expanded certification, competitive 4Gb Fibre Channel fabric support and an intuitive GUI to help overcome some of the native challenges of the VTL approach, we are making it simpler than ever before for SAN-based customers to take advantage of Data Domain’s high-performance inline deduplication storage for datacentre backup.”
