Tandberg Ships StorageLibrary With HH LTO-4

Tandberg Data announced the availability of the fourth generation LTO Half Height tape drives (LTO-4 HH) in the StorageLibrary T24, StorageLibrary T40+ and StorageLibrary T80+.
 
The StorageLibrary family is available with a choice of 12, 24, 40 or 77 slots, offering compressed capacities up to 123.2TB and performance up to 6.9TB/hr. The StorageLibrary family is attractively priced and provides outstanding value for IT managers that require scalable, reliable and future proof backup and data protection solution.

About the StorageLibrary T24
The StorageLibrary T24 easily scales from a 12-slot autoloader to a 24-slot library by simply adding a second magazine, offering compressed capacities up to 38.4TB.
The StorageLibrary T24 supports up to two half-height drives or one full-height drive and is available with LVD SCSI, Fibre Channel or SAS connectivity, providing compressed performance up to 1.7TB/hr. The StorageLibrary T24 is full-featured and ships with a barcode reader, barcode labels, web-based remote management, import/export slot, rack mount kit and Symantec® Backup Exec QuickStart Edition software as standard.
The StorageLibrary T24 is ideal for use in multi-server environments and fully supports the latest security and data protection features, such as Encryption and WORM (Write Once Read Many), to assist customers with meeting data storage and archiving regulatory requirements.
 Existing StorageLibrary T24 users with legacy LTO drives can easily swap out their previous-generation LTO drive(s) and install new LTO-4 HH drives with the library still in its rack. This feature extends users’ hardware investment and dramatically reduces upgrade costs while immediately achieving new levels of capacity and speed with LTO-4 technology.
 
About the StorageLibrary T40+ and T80+
The Tandberg StorageLibrary T40+ combines high capacity and performance in scalable 4U form factor. With flexible capacity, performance and support for LVD SCSI, Native Fibre Channel and SAS connectivity, the StorageLibrary T40+ is suited to fit in most midrange and enterprise storage environments. It offers compressed capacities up to 123.2TB and performance up to 6.9TB/hr (compressed). The Capacity on Demand (COD) feature allows users to easily increase usable capacity as their backup requirements grow. The Performance on Demand (POD) feature allows users to add up to 4 full height or 8 LTO Half Height drives. Users can add additional drives or upgrade to the next generation LTO drive to increase their library’s performance and capacity when they need it. The pass-through mechanism allows users to stack multiple units together, allowing users to meet their ever-increasing backup and archiving requirements. The StorageLibrary T40+ has a host of management and maintenance features, ensuring minimized downtime and ease of management.
 
LTO-4 Half Height
The new LTO-4 half height tape drive provides a native capacity of 800GB (1.6TB compressed) and native transfer speeds of 120MB per second (240MB/sec compressed). The increased capacity and speed shortens the time needed for backup and restore processes – a key benefit for companies with increasing data storage requirements and shrinking backup windows. By installing two half height drives, the user can double the backup speed and thus reduce backup windows even further. The LTO-4 HH drive is available with either SCSI or SAS connectivity.
The LTO-4 drive offers a myriad of features to improve performance, reliability and manageability. With its embedded hardware encryption, using the 256 bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), the LTO-4 drive can write encrypted data directly to the LTO Ultrium tape cartridge, adding another level of security to the storage and transport of sensitive information. The WORM functionality in the LTO-4 drive will offer users cost effective, long-term archiving, allowing them to comply with regulations by storing unaltered data for decades.
 
Pricing and Availability
The StorageLibrary family with LTO-4 HH is available immediately from Tandberg Data’s network of distributors and resellers.  Estimated street price for the StorageLibrary T24 (24-slots) with one half-height LTO-4 drive (SCSI) is below $6,299. The StorageLibrary T40+ with one half height LTO-4 drive (SCSI) is $9,499. The StorageLibrary family is protected by a standard 3-year warranty that includes a one year Advanced Replacement Service (on components only). Extensions of the warranty and on site services are available as an option.
