That can be plugged into HDTV
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 23, 2008 at 3:37 pmTraxdata, the main brand of the RITEK Corporation, announced availability of its multimedia hard disk drive (HDD) product, the MultiMediaDrive. The MultiMediaDrive is a portable multimedia player that can simply be plugged into your television set for instant playback of movies, songs or photos.
With a huge 500GB storage capacity, users can create their own media library using Traxdata’s MultiMediaDrive to watch movies, view holiday snaps, and play their favorite songs on their television instead of on a computer. Since the drive is equipped with a multitude of audio and video connections it is compatible with most TV sets.
The MultiMediaDrive is easy to use and works by transferring files stored on a computer to the drive, through the USB 2.0. It can then be plugged into any audio and video interface, including high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI), allowing users to make full use of their HDTV (up to 1080i) without losing image and sound quality. To further enhance user experience Traxdata has included a remote control with the drive, allowing customers to control their entertainment from the comfort of their armchair.
It can also be used as a standard external hard disk drive (HDD), which makes it ideal for the home office user who may want to store both entertainment and business files on the drive.
“The Traxdata MultiMediaDrive brings home entertainment from your computer to your television without the need to worry about interface compatibility. Combine this with its portability and it is the ideal solution to share movies, music and pictures with family and friends in the comfort of a living room. With home entertainment increasingly in high-definition format, the HDMI interface and its up-scaling capabilities enable the user to get the most out of their high-definition LCD or plasma television,” said Jacob van der Hoeven, manager of commercial strategy at Traxdata.
Traxdata’s MultiMediaDrive plays the following media types: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DivX, Xvid, MP3, WAV and JPEG. It supports both FAT32 and NTFS file systems and has extensive DivX subtitle support. USB 2.0, composite video and audio R/L, component video cables are all included.
