Italien Bank Chooses Cisco SANTap and EMC RecoverPoint
For business continuity and disaster recovery
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 14, 2008 at 3:33 pmIn Lombard, Italy, with over 2,200 employees and 274 branch offices, the Banca Popolare di Sondrio (BPS) is deploying technology from Cisco Systems and EMC Corp. to improve its business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities. BPS uses Cisco SANTap, along with EMC RecoverPoint to support the bank’s continuous data replication on remote storage devices.
SANTap is an intelligent fabric service designed to allow Cisco-based SANs to work with third-party appliance-based storage software without compromising the integrity, availability, and performance of the primary data path. Cisco SANTap enables BPS’s network to instantly duplicate data sent by the servers to the storage devices, then deliver the data to EMC RecoverPoint. By combining Cisco SANTap and EMC RecoverPoint, this solution provides Continuous Remote Replication (CRR), helping the bank to replicate its data without compromising performance, and helping it to comply with strict government regulations. "This is an innovative Disaster Recovery concept, in which the system intercepts the flows of data recorded on the storage area network and guarantees the accurate writing of the information on both the primary and the secondary sites," said Giampiero Raschetti, ICT Architecture Manager of Banca Popolare di Sondrio.
