Second Generation of Encrypted HDDs From Stonewood
From 60GB to 320GB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 2, 2008 at 3:35 pmStonewood Electronics Ltd, designer and manufacturer of encrypted hard drives, has announced the launch of its Eclypt range, the next generation of the FlagStone family of hardware encrypted drives.
There has rarely been a day gone by without a story about significant data loss in the press: From hospitals losing patients’ medical records to financial institutions exposing hundreds and thousands of consumers’ bank account details. Many of these losses have been as a direct result of the loss of company laptops or transportable media.
The IDC predicts that the mobile workforce will reach global figures of 1 billion by 2011, and that the move towards remote and mobile working across all sectors is a predictably upward trend. With analysts predicting that sensitive data will increasingly be on the move, businesses have to ensure that their confidential and sensitive information is properly protected. Eclypt, Stonewood’s latest range of encrypted hard drives offers the most advanced encryption technology available to the private sector.
Stonewood CEO, Brendan Forster said: “Eclypt offers a real alternative to businesses that would normally look to data protection software providers for the protection of their data. Eclypt drives require no maintenance, are free from renewable licence fees and call for no specialist IT knowledge or training.”
Unlike software-based encryption solutions, the Eclypt family is a completely tamper-proof and tamper-evident range of hard disk drives that protects data at rest, even if the device is stolen or lost.
Eclypt hard drives provide instant data protection without any adverse effects to a computer’s performance, encrypting and decrypting the data immediately and invisibly. Eclypt technology safeguards data by integrating sophisticated authentication, entire disk encryption and data storage into tamper-proof internal and portable hardware.
Available capacities for the Eclypt range span from 60GB to 120GB for Eclypt Corporate, to 320GB for Eclypt Freedom, and operate independently of any operating system or application.
