Pramati Inks OEM Agreement with NETGEAR

To combine Dekoh media sharing software and NAS

Pramati Technologies, a pioneer in bringing Web 2.0 technologies to the desktop, announced a partnership with NETGEAR, Inc., a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking solutions, to enhance the personalized media experience for users of the award-winning NETGEAR ReadyNAS Duo Home Media Server. The ReadyNAS Duo products are intelligent award-winning network storage solutions that enable consumers to centralize, organize and serve digital media throughout the home to network attached devices such as Windows- and Macintosh-based computers, digital media receivers and game consoles.

Under the terms of the agreement, NETGEAR will ship ReadyNAS Photos, an adapted version of the Dekoh Photos application optimized for ReadyNAS, with every ReadyNAS Duo Home Media Server device. ReadyNAS Photos enables users to easily move digital photographs from their networked computers to the ReadyNAS Duo and share those photos with friends and family with a single click. Traditionally, pictures are shared by uploading to photo sharing websites or by configuring home routers to allow direct web access to home computers. With ReadyNAS Photos, both these technically complex and time consuming steps are avoided.

"As consumers accumulate and store ever-increasing amounts of digital photographs and other digital content, users want to do more with their photos than to store and archive them – they want to share them with family and friends around the world," explained Paul Tien, Vice President and General Manager for NETGEAR’s Network Storage Unit. "The capabilities provided by the Dekoh software enable users to extend the media experience beyond the connected home to the Web. Adding a Web 2.0 style user interface and media sharing functionality is changing the way users leverage the robust feature-set of our ReadyNAS devices and opens up a whole new world of media-sharing capabilities for consumers."

"This agreement provides Pramati Technologies with an opportunity to deliver its media interface and differentiated feature set to a new range of users–from consumer electronics, to cable and satellite boxes," said Vijay Pullur, President of Pramati Technologies.

The agreement between Pramati Technologies and NETGEAR lays the foundation for a long-term software development and support relationship with the Sunnyvale-based software maker which maintains its engineering headquarters in Hyderabad, India.
