Comeback of Legendary Finis Conner
In software!
By Jean Jacques Maleval | April 28, 2008 at 4:00 pmFinis Conner is one of those American entrepreneurs who never seem to get tired of starting again — even failure seems to energize them. The co-founder of Shugart Associates, Seagate Technology and then Conner Peripherals (eventually acquired for a tidy sum by Seagate) failed miserably with Conner Technologies launched in 1999 to produce low-cost HDDs and then with StorCard in 2002, a new venture offering a smart card integrating a tiny floppy disk.
He is now involved in a start-up in stealth mode, iGotchr, without any relation with storage. The company produces a new software that helps you ‘Keep an eye on who stopped by’. In an email he wrote:
"Friends, I am working with a group to develop and offer to the market an app package that enables your PC/laptop to become a security device by detecting motion, taking a picture and sending to a designated email which can be viewed on your mobile device as well."
"Using the already installed iSight webcam on your Macs or Macbooks, you can give your Mac the gift of intelligent sight."
"This is a Beta level and we expect to launch in 2-3 weeks."
"I know, you are saying what the hell does Finis know about software, but like before I have a great team."
