Kozio Supports Freescale’s Latest Storage Processor

For its test solutions

Kozio, Inc. , a provider of automated hardware functional test for digital circuit boards, announced support for the latest Freescale PowerQUICC II Pro storage processors, the MPC8377E, MPC8378E, and MPC8379E. The Kozio solution simplifies product development by providing complete hardware validation suites for design, manufacturing and to ship with the product. Kozio is helping manufacturers of storage equipment succeed in the challenge of rapidly releasing new products to meet consumer demands.

Kozio’s kDiagnostics provides a manufacturing solution for functional testing of Freescale-based hardware, including the MPC837xE series of processors, as well as numerous other CPUs and chipsets. Standard hardware test suites include focus, flow, and stress testing for DDR2, USB, PCI, PCI Express, SATA-II, Gigabit Ethernet, and other components which can save man-years of test development effort. With Kozio’s functional test technology you isolate failures to components at full processor speeds, reducing your test cost, improving product quality, and improving customer satisfaction.

kDiagnostics is in use today by Freescale and Micetek to validate the production of the MPC8377E and MPC8379E reference design boards. Kozio delivered a validation solution to Micetek in Taiwan where they are using it for production line validation.

"Embedded device manufacturers continue to pursue advanced methods of testing new product designs in order to rapidly ship reliable products," said Katie Butler, Storage marketing manager for Freescale Semiconductor. "Freescale is pleased to work with Kozio to leverage its world class hardware validation technology for Freescale-based circuit boards, helping customers world-wide improve test quality while reducing overall cost and development time."

"We enjoy working with Freescale and Micetek and look forward to helping other customers by providing a comprehensive circuit board test solution for any design based on Freescale’s PowerQUICC processors," said Joe Skazinski, president of Kozio.

The MPC8379E-RDB reference platform is a highly integrated board targeting SMB business and high-end consumer applications such as Network Attached Storage (NAS) with RAID 5, multifunction printers, and office-in-a box solutions. Kozio engineered its off-the-shelf test solutions to speed up and simplify product development while addressing the needs of application-specific requirements of consumer and business storage equipment markets.

About kDiagnostics

kDiagnostics represents an advanced evolution in automated circuit board testing. The core test functionality extends beyond structural and emulated test methods to validate memory subsystems, Gigabit Ethernet channels, PCI Express busses, SATA channels, and USB data paths by providing stress testing using advanced processors features such as DMA channels. The beauty of the solution is that it requires less than an hour to set up and choose test cases, a minimal connection to the target, and simple loopback plugs.

The kDiagnostics Manufacturing Suite provides a state-of-the-art operator interface with full automation and test tracking. In addition to providing test coverage for all logic components, this technology programs NAND and NOR flash memories at their fastest programmable speeds.
