New BlueStor Line of SAS Expander JBODs and PeSAN From JMR
At NAB on ATTO, EditShare and GMAX Storage Solutions boothes
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 17, 2008 at 1:13 pmJMR Electronics, Inc. announced that they will showcase their new line of BlueStor PeSAN RAID storage solutions in multiple partner booths at NAB 2008 in Las Vegas, NV.
JMR is introducing their new BlueStor line of SAS Expander JBODs and PeSAN equipped RAID storage solutions at multiple locations, including ATTO Technologies, EditShare , GMAX Storage Solutions and also at the ProMax Digital Cafe at the Sands Expo.
The BlueStor PeSAN RAID line was developed to be the ultimate in high performance direct attached storage for content creation, video editing and digital film applications requiring extremely high sustained throughput and robust operation. The BlueStor solutions combine robust operation with cost-efficient implementation, driving storage costs down to well below one dollar per Gigabyte.
The BlueStor products incorporate patented PeSAN technology, which is based on the new PCI Express (PCIe) external expansion and cable connection standard. The technology extends the PCIe bus electrically and mechanically, enabling the use of more PCIe based controllers and more efficiently leveraging the underutilized power in today’s multicore processors. This allows users to expand their PC/Mac, server or workstation’s core logic PCIe bus outside of the box to enable the utmost in scalable direct attached storage performance.
Optimized for video applications, PeSAN’s open system architecture delivers wide bandwidth, high performance expandable storage using a switched architecture that avoids costly storage bus bridges or components. Overheads from protocol conversion to serial protocols such as Fibre Channel, Inifiniband and Ethernet are totally eliminated, resulting in sustained raw data rates exceeding 2,000 MB/s.
The BlueStor PeSAN RAID storage product line provides a storage platform that can easily scale to handle the bandwidth and capacity intensive requirements needed in the high-end content creation and digital intermediate space, empowering true real-time collaborative workflow in digital post- production. Starting with a single 3U 16 bay rackmount enclosure, each array can be populated with up to 16TB of SATA II hard drives for applications requiring large storage capacity, or up to 4.8TB of SAS hard drives where performance is needed. As user requirements grow, the system can be expanded to 256 targets (up to 4096 disk drives) using JMR PeSAN Switches, available concurrently with the RAID storage product.
"We’re very pleased to see many high-end demonstrations being powered by our BlueStor PeSAN RAID storage product line," said Josef Rabinovitz, president and CEO of JMR Electronics. "BlueStor is the perfect enabling solution for content creation houses and post facilities working within a multi-user HD editing environment, performing multi-stream 2K digital intermediary work, as well as broadcasters with large numbers of simultaneous users accessing centralized storage or employing concurrent workflows such as in news production."
