Flash Drive With 4Gb FC Interface by STEC

Capacities from 73GB to 512GB

STEC, Inc. announced the availability of the first solid state drive (SSD)
to provide native Fibre Channel (FC) 4Gb support — the Zeus-IOPS 4Gb
Fibre Channel SSD. The first-of-its-kind SSD allows enterprise storage
and enterprise server OEMs to adopt SSDs for a wider range of
applications.

"This important product line expansion enables broader adoption of
SSD technology in the datacenter,
" said Patrick Wilkison, vice
president of marketing and business development at STEC. "The major
OEMs in the enterprise storage and enterprise computing sectors need
4Gb FC with full compatibility and command set used by mechanical disc
drives making it ever easier to incorporate SSD into existing systems
requiring 4Gb FC drives.
"

"STEC has included a long list of features, allowing the OEMs to
fully manage the performance and reliability of the drive in their
application. Beyond the virtues of the 4Gb FC interface, STEC continues
to evolve the entire Zeus-IOPS product line to continuously incorporate
advanced features required by all enterprise-focused OEMs
," said
Wilkison.

The Zeus-IOPS enterprise SSD product family with proprietary product
architecture delivers exceptional write performance and Full Data Path
Protection. OEMs extract the full value from this category of SSD by
optimizing around the very fast transactional performance of the
drives. In particular, the sustained 100% random write input/output per
second (IOPS) exceed 17,000. This level of performance renders
unprecedented system-level performance gains and cost savings.
Zeus-IOPS enables previously unattainable system-level IOPS at
significantly reduced energy requirements and reduced total cost of
ownership.

Zeus-IOPS 4Gb and 2Gb Fibre Channel solid state drives are in mass
production and currently available in capacities from 73GB up to 512GB.
